PourTastingLog
PourTastingLog is a private tasting notebook for wine and coffee: you record what you drank, score it across six palate axes, tag the flavours you found, and the app charts the patterns back to you. This page explains what the app does and does not do with your data.
PourTastingLog does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics and no server — everything you write stays in the app's private storage on your own device.
Information we collect
None. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, photos or any other identifier, and there is no mechanism in the app for sending information anywhere. The optional display name and emblem you can set on the Profile screen are stored locally so the app can greet you; they are never transmitted.
Data stored on your device
To make the app work, PourTastingLog stores the following only on your device, using a local Hive database plus the platform's standard preferences store — readable only by this app:
- Tasting entries — name, producer or roaster, origin, varietal or process, serving or brew method, tasting date, star rating, the six palate scores, flavour tags, written notes, an optional price, and the shortlist / would-buy-again flags.
- Profile — the display name and emblem you chose, and the date you first opened the app.
- Preferences — default beverage, journal sort order, compact-row setting, price tracking, ambient motion, and which tab the app opens on.
- Milestone progress — which milestones have already been shown to you, so a badge is only announced once.
This data never leaves your device. It is not uploaded to PourTastingLog or to any third party. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes all of it permanently.
Permissions
The app requests no runtime permissions on either platform. It never asks for camera, microphone, location, contacts, photo library, storage or notification access. The Android manifest declares android.permission.INTERNET, but this permission is unused — it is inherited from the standard Flutter application template and no code in the app opens a network connection. It grants no access to your data and triggers no permission prompt.
Network use
PourTastingLog is fully offline. It makes no network requests of any kind: no telemetry, no crash reporting, no remote configuration, no content downloads, no advertising calls. The app functions identically in airplane mode.
Third-party services
No analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting SDKs are integrated. There are no cookies, web beacons or tracking pixels. The app is built with Flutter and uses a small number of open-source packages for local functionality only: a local database (Hive), local preferences storage, charting, and the system share sheet (share_plus). None of them contact a server. When you tap Share, your device's own share sheet opens and you choose where the text goes — the app does not send it anywhere itself, and it has no visibility into what you pick.
Children's privacy
The app collects no data at all, from anyone, so it collects nothing from children either, and there is nothing to delete from a server on request. Note that the app is a tasting journal that includes wine, so it is aimed at adults of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. It contains no purchasing, no links to retailers, and no encouragement to consume alcohol.
Your rights
Your notes never leave your device, so there is no account to close and no export request to file. You can delete any individual tasting from inside the app. Uninstalling PourTastingLog removes the app's storage and permanently erases every entry, preference and milestone along with it. Because nothing is backed up to us, that deletion is final — export anything you want to keep (via the Share action on an entry) before uninstalling.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top of this page will be revised. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
